Finding my identity in Christ has been quite the journey…
It’s easy to lose yourself and have an identity crisis when society dictates how you should look…
You find yourself constantly comparing yourself to fake digital identities or social media images — or letting others’ opinions of you make you…
- insecure and ashamed of yourself
- feel inadequate
- feel like you’re not good enough
- quietly insult yourself
- self-deprecate
- constantly seek approval
— all simply because of how you perceive yourself.
YOU ARE NOT YOUR SIZE or YOUR LOOKS. You’re so much more!
Your true identity and worth come from being God’s daughter — and you are loved just as you are.
I pray you read through this post and that through the power of the Holy Spirit, you can internalize just how special you truly are.
My beautiful friend, because I know how life-changing finding my identity in Christ has been — I want the same for you.
If you want to experience a new life — a life of freedom in standing firmly in your identity in Christ — read on…
It’s not too late because if I — a woman in her 50s — was able to discover my identity in Christ, so can you.
Today, we’ll go over why it’s important to know my identity in Christ, how to live your identity in Christ, and SO much more!
What Does My Identity in Christ Mean?
Your identity in Christ is super powerful and transformative!
It’s literally like being given a new lens to see yourself — not as the world (or you) sees you — but through God’s eyes.
The good news is…
In Christ, your personal identity goes beyond your job title, your social status, marital status, personality traits, spiritual gifts, good works, or even your personal achievements…
When we give our lives to Jesus, we’re recognized as children of God. This means you are loved more than you think, valued beyond measure, and 100% forgiven!
So, it comes down to WHOSE you are — a masterpiece of a woman designed by your loving Creator and heavenly Father.

(I could literally end the post here — but I won’t because there’s SO much more of God’s unconditional love you need to read!)
Meditate on these truths founded on God’s word…
- My identity in Christ is not about what I’ve done or haven’t done — it’s about what Jesus did for me on the cross. I’m a new creation through grace.
- My identity in Christ provides a foundation of unshakable self-worth and purpose.
- My identity in Christ impacts how I live. I will begin to see life through the filter of God’s love and truth.
- My identity in Christ will change my relationships, guiding me to act with love, kindness, and forgiveness – echoing Jesus’ actions.
- My identity in Christ also influences how I handle challenges.
- Knowing I’m a child of God gives me strength and hope during tough times.
- My identity in Christ is a journey of growth. It’s a daily process of understanding more deeply what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ — by growing in a deep personal relationship with Him.

How Do You Live Your Identity in Christ?
Embracing your identity in Christ is like finding your favorite cozy sweater — it’s comforting, fits just right, and makes you feel warm and cozy.
It’s not about being perfect or reaching an impossible standard — it’s about knowing who you are because of Whose you are.
If you were to walk away with just one truth — remember this: your core identity is based on the fact that you’re made in the very own image of God.
I’ll leave you with some next steps…
Next Steps…
Start each day by reminding yourself…
“I am chosen, loved, and a masterpiece.” When you look in the mirror, see yourself through His lens. That little girl inside you, who might feel inadequate or insecure — is beautifully crafted and an essential part of the body of Christ.
When those familiar voices of self-critique or the craving for others’ approval sneak in…
Pause and take a moment to recall your true identity. You’re not defined by social media validation or the opinions of others. You’re a precious daughter of the King, uniquely marked for a Godly purpose.
Celebrate the different gifts He’s blessed you with…
Use them boldly, sister! You’re perfectly equipped to make a meaningful impact in your corner of the world. Every choice, every gesture of love, every step forward — it’s all part of your metamorphic journey in Christ.
And remember, this identity isn’t just a label — it’s a lifestyle…
It means choosing to believe and trust God’s promises over the enemy’s lies — even on (especially on) tough days. When you feel lost, dive into Bible study or just talk to Him. He’s ALWAYS listening — He says so in Romans 8:38-39
Standing firmly in and knowing my identity in Christ is the best gift I’ve received from the Gift Himself.
After 5 decades of living with a distorted body image, I went from…
- not thinking much of myself
- feeling unloved
- feeling anxious
- self-sabotaging
- feeling like a failure
- seeking approval from men
- body checking
- constant dieting or neglecting my body
- emotional eating
- feeling embarrassed
- comparing myself to others
- feeling insecure
- feeling inadequate
- feeling unworthy
…to finding comfort at the throne of grace — treating myself with compassion, empathy, kindness, grace, and love — even on bad body image days.
Some days, I don’t like myself, and that’s ok — because today, I accept myself for Whose I am and am humbly unapologetic about it! Wow, how my life has changed, and I am forever grateful to the lover of my soul! 🙌
I hope and pray the same for you, my beautiful friend.
So, let these words renew your mind. Go out there and let your light shine. Live out your role in the body of Christ and your heavenly citizenship with joy and confidence.
- The people around you need what you uniquely bring to the table.
- You are loved, you are important, and your story is significant.
- Live out your authentic self — boldly and unashamedly — in the endless love and abounding grace of Christ.
