Why Journal for Body Image?
The short answer is…
Because putting your feelings on paper becomes a guide on your journey to finding peace in self-acceptance and loving yourself.
Sadly, a current study by the American Psychological Association says women of all ages in the general population struggle with their physical appearance.
That being said, the behavioral sciences field says that keeping a body image journal is one of the most helpful tools for women with body image concerns.
Ultimately, journaling significantly helps women with body image struggles to develop a more positive body image.
So whether you struggle with…
- your body weight
- your body size
- your body type
- your body shape
- particular body parts
- or any of your physical characteristics…
Current research says you’ll likely find self-acceptance when you journal about your body image.
Body Image Journal – Christian Perspective
Why is it a good idea for you to journal from a Biblical perspective?
The short answer is…
To discover the root cause of your negative body thoughts — God knows you better than you know yourself!
Therefore, the Holy Spirit can help you navigate journaling — guiding you to discover the root of your struggles.
Also…
- So you can value your worth as a beautiful daughter of God! And live from a place of Shalom — whole, free, and in complete peace with yourself!
- As a daughter of God, you’re not meant to overcome your wellness or body image issues in your own physical strength. Remember, our good God invites you to rest in Him…
Get ready to be amazed!
Because as you use these body image journal prompts, you’ll literally recognize repeated words and phrases.
Pretty much, journaling makes you become self-aware of things you think about and say to yourself. Things that otherwise you wouldn’t learn about yourself.
(Terrifying and exciting at the same time, right?!)
Once you recognize these negative thought patterns — you can take them to God. And in His perfect time, He will help you accept your own body — JUST AS IT IS — for all of the amazing and unique traits He has gifted you.
Before you begin journaling, I encourage you to pray… Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your thoughts and to give you wisdom and discernment.
