What do you think of when you hear “wellness Wednesday”?
Maybe self-care practices come to mind…
Like taking a much-needed break, spending time doing things that you’ve put off, eating better, exercising, and so on.
When I think of Wellness Wednesday tips, a little thought bubble pops up in my mind — it has a pair of dumbbells, a fitness tracker, and water bottles, lol!
I guess my brain needs an update too 😂
The Wellness Wednesday tips I’m sharing today are a little different. So, today, I invite you to look at Wellness Wednesday with a fresh set of eyes — through the lens of grace. Are you in?
Great, let’s get started…
What Exactly is Wellness Wednesday?
Wellness Wednesday started in the early days of social media…
It started as a way to remind people to take care of their health in the middle of the week. Brands shared tips and tricks, encouraging followers to focus on their well-being — both mentally and physically.
And shortly after, it became viral! I’m sure you’ve seen the hashtag #WellnessWednesday on your social feeds at some point, right?
Why Wednesday?
Well, because many people feel stressed and tired by Wednesday (also known as “Hump Day”). And Wellness Wednesday is a fantastic way to remind you to pause and care for yourself.
Today Wellness Wednesday activities and tips are still super popular, and the main focus of this dedicated day continues to be improving your overall health and well-being.
And that’s GREAT!
But…
For you, as a Christian woman who sometimes feels unhappy with your body, Wellness Wednesday can be SO much more…
It can be a life-giving blessing in disguise…
- It can be an opportunity to connect with yourself on a more purposeful level.
- It can be a time to pray for your mental health and to present your body image and self-esteem struggles.
- It can be a time to remember that you are beautifully made in God’s image.
- It can be a time to remember that you are loved more than you can imagine.

Wellness Wednesday Tips
1. Physical Wellness: Honor and Nourish Your Body
Your body is a unique and precious gift from God, and it deserves gentle care. It’s important to take care of it by choosing nutrient-dense foods and moving your body. But don’t obsess over it. Instead, be intentional — focus on what makes you feel healthy and strong. By nurturing your body, you honor Him.
- Daily Physical Activity: Start with something simple that you enjoy, like a 10-15-minute walk or some light stretching each day. This not only boosts your mood but also glorifies God through caring for His masterful creation. For example, during your lunch break, you could take a short walk in the local park. This dose of fresh air and physical activity can do wonders for your energy levels and strengthen your immune system.
- Eat Mindfully: Choose foods that nourish your body. Think of fresh fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins. Eating these — even when your taste buds don’t agree — will make you feel more vibrant and alive. You can still enjoy your favorite treats — just remember to practice self-control and moderation, making mindful choices that balance indulgence with nourishment.
- Get a Good Night’s Sleep: It’s also important to focus on healthy habits that benefit both your mind and body. To ensure you get enough sleep, make a conscious effort to reduce screen time and avoid blue light before bed. Create a bedtime routine that calms you, like doing your skincare routine, reading a little scripture or a good book, or listening to soothing music. Rest is a gift from God, and it’s essential to your well-being.
Besides the health benefits of making physical fitness a priority, your mental well-being also reaps the benefits — it’s a ripple effect!

2. Spiritual Wellness: Deepen Your Faith
Your spiritual health is the core of your being and is foundational to your overall well-being. Nurture it with these simple yet intentional practices.
- Pray Regularly: Spend a few minutes every day talking to God. This quiet time is the perfect opportunity to open your heart, talk to Him about your feelings — share what’s bothering you, and let His love and truth fill your heart with inner peace. You can also ask for His help – wisdom – and strength. Prayer can be as simple as thanking God for your blessings or as deep as asking for guidance in difficult times. You can pray any time you want — maybe in the morning when you wake up or at night before you go to bed. This will help you keep a strong connection with God every day.
- Study the Word: Read a couple of Bible verses daily to help nourish your spiritual life. Think about how these words apply to your daily life and the lessons they teach. You’ll be amazed at the comfort, guidance, and new insights into your wellness journey — just when you need it! Consider keeping a journal of your thoughts and what you learn can be a huge help too. This way, you can look back and see how much you’ve learned and grown in your Christian walk.
- Connect with Fellow Believers: It’s really important to join a Bible study group or be part of your church community. Because, when you do, you meet lots of people who support and encourage each other, which makes everyone feel like they belong. Try to make friends with spiritually mature women – they can help you grow and learn more about God. Being part of a group like this is great because it will help nurture and deepen your walk with God.

3. Emotional Wellness: Embrace Your Feelings
I understand that struggling with body image can be tough, and it’s important to remember that your worth isn’t based on your appearance. You are valued because you are a beloved daughter of God.
Taking care of your emotional health is crucial for a healthy lifestyle. This means managing your stress levels, setting realistic goals, and making small but positive changes in your everyday life. Emotions are a natural part of who you are, given by God, and here are some healthy ways to handle them:
- Journal Your Thoughts: Try to write down your feelings regularly. This can help you understand them better and figure out why you feel the way you do.
- Practice Gratitude: Make it a habit to think about what you’re thankful for each day. This will help shift your focus from the bad stuff to the good things in your life.
- Reach Out for Support: If you’re struggling, don’t hesitate to talk to someone you trust, like a friend or a Christian counselor. Sharing what you’re going through can make things a lot easier.
- Healthy Work-Life Balance: It’s really important to balance your time between work and fun or relaxing. This balance helps you handle stress better and make positive changes in your life.
Another simple yet powerful idea is to practice positive affirmations. They will help reinforce your self-worth and maintain a positive outlook!
