Let’s talk about something we have in common…
Struggling with how we feel about our bodies.
It’s a tough headspace to be in — it can be mentally and emotionally exhausting.
Your outlook can be blurred. Your view of life is often clouded by insecurities and negative perceptions about yourself.
And it affects how you engage with everyone and everything around you — but mostly — how you engage with yourself…
Body skincare is either the farthest thing from your mind, or you tend to overdo it.
You see…
When struggling with body image, it’s common to either neglect your body (no body skincare products in sight) or obsess over it (your body care routine is your number one priority).
If your journey looks anything like mine — sometimes you neglect — and sometimes you obsess.
But, I genuinely believe there’s a happy medium — a place of freedom — right where Christ wants you to be.
It’s a space where you don’t sabotage your well-being by neglecting OR idolizing your physical appearance.
When you’re in this space, even if you don’t love how you look, you can be kind to yourself and treat yourself with gentleness, self-compassion, and grace.
Part of embracing self-care is using body skincare products. Today, you’ll learn why a body skin care routine is more about nurturing your overall wellness than aesthetics. So get comfy and imagine yourself in a space of freedom — where taking care of yourself is not just okay, it’s celebrated!
Why Should I Use Body Skincare Products?
Do you realize — like really comprehend-acknowledge-believe…
That your body is a precious gift from God?
Think about it…
He made every part of you — you are a Master’s piece!
Psalm 139 verse 14 says so…

So my beautiful sister…
If neglecting your body sounds familiar — not eating enough, overeating, not exercising, ignoring basic self-care, or maybe just not seeing the value in yourself — I’ve been there too, and believe me, there’s hope.
If obsessing over your body sounds familiar — you’re super focused on your body’s shape, size, and weight, and maybe even restrict your diet to an unhealthy degree. That’s also been part of my story, but I assure you, there’s hope.
Now, let’s talk about body care…
Using body skincare products isn’t about looking good. Caring for your skin is a way of saying ‘thank you’ to God for this incredible gift.
Listen, it’s not about chasing perfection. It’s about nurturing and respecting what you have. Taking care of your body is an act of self-love and gratitude.

So now that that’s out of the way — let’s get into the products needed for body care!
What Products Are Needed for Body Care?
When it comes to picking body skincare products, there are a couple of key factors to keep in mind…
- Skin Type: Knowing your skin type and understanding its specific needs is crucial. This will help you choose products that will work best for you.
- Ingredients: The ingredients list is your friend! Look for body skincare products with ingredients that align with your unique skin type — what works for someone else might not be ideal for you.
For a complete body care routine, the essential products include…
- nourishing body wash
- exfoliating scrub
- moisturizing lotion or cream
- body oil for hydration
- and a hydrating mist for refreshment
— all chosen to suit your specific skin type and ingredients that love your skin back 😊.
How Do I Know My Skin Type?
You likely have dry skin if your skin often feels tight or looks flaky or itchy.
You have normal skin if it’s neither too oily nor too dry and has a balanced, smooth texture.

What’s a Good Body Skincare Routine?
A good body skincare routine starts with cleansing — using a quality body wash, followed by exfoliating with a body scrub to remove dead skin. Next, shave if necessary, and finish with layers of hydration — applying body oil, then a cream or lotion, to nourish and protect your skin.
Here are some options…

CeraVe Body Wash: A fragrance-free, thick, and creamy moisturizing body wash. It leaves your skin soft and nourished — not feeling tight or dry. Perfect for dry-menopausal skin too! (Store the bottle upside down…)
First Aid Bump Eraser Body Scrub: This is the best body scrub I’ve ever tried! It’s kinda like a facial microdermabrasion treatment but for your entire body. It provides a chemical exfoliation AND a physical exfoliation. Buffs away dry — rough bumps (Keratosis Pilaris — like strawberry or chicken skin). Added bonus: If your thighs rub together, it’s great for relieving that area’s dark, sensitive skin.
Aveeno Shave Gel: Your skin will feel like butter! Contains colloidal oatmeal and vitamin E to help hydrate your skin. Great for a close shave and leaves your skin super smooth. (A little goes a long way!)
Bio-Oil Skincare Body Oil: Packed with essential oils, this oil beautifully hydrates without leaving your skin greasy. It also helps with your skin’s elasticity. (I personally apply it to wet skin right after showering, then gently pat dry.)
CeraVe Moisturizing Cream: This thick cream is ideal for winter months or very dry skin. The ceramides beautifully hydrate dry and sensitive skin. The hyaluronic acid is heavenly… it helps with water loss (retains your skin’s natural moisture). Although it’s thick — your skin will absorb it and won’t leave a greasy feeling. It’s the perfect “whole body skincare routine.”
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Body Gel Cream: If you don’t like the “creamy feel of hydrating lotions — then this is for you. Hyaluronic acid has the incredible ability to retain moisture. It instantly nourishes thirsty skin and leaves you with soft, deeply hydrated, supple skin. Perfect for warmer months.
Palmer’s Coconut Oil Body Balm: Have you ever thought of rubbing butter on your skin? (I may or may not have done this 🙃.) Well, that’s what this feels like — a body butter. Beyond the a-ma-zing raw coconut oil’s fragrance, it has vitamin E. Together, they provide intense moisture and leave a nice glow.
Eucerin Advanced Repair Hand Cream: The alpha hydroxy and ceramides help repair very dry hands. This rich cream doesn’t leave your hands with a greasy or “coated feeling” — your hands will thank you. (I’ve used it on my leather bags — makes them look new!)

What Order Do I Use My Skincare Products?
- Cleanse: Begin with a refreshing body wash for clean skin.
- *Exfoliate: Gently buff away dead skin cells to smoothen and even out the surface.
- Shave: If needed, now’s the time for shaving.
- Nourish: Layer your products from the thinnest to the thickest consistency (does that make sense?). Choose from a hydrating mist, oil, lotion, or cream, or layer them for extra nourishment. Spritz on a hydrating mist once or twice during the day as needed for an instant hydration boost.
*Dry Skin: Exfoliate 1-2 times a week. Exfoliating too often can strip your skin of its natural oils, which can increase dryness.
Normal Skin: Exfoliate 2-3 times a week.
